Busy Bee

This has been a great week and a hard week for me. I am usually the least busiest person I know. We don't have kids and we don't overbook ourselves with all kinds of things. This combo makes for pretty stress free days for the most parts. We don't have a lot of demands on us. It's nice and for now it's the way I prefer life. (PS-I have to thank my husband for making life less stressful by knowing how to build and fix anything known to man)

This week has NOT been that way. I have made about 9 Etsy sales in the past week. This is insane for little old me who has about a 4-5 month old store that seems to get about 1-3 sales a month! A few of the orders have been custom and so that means I spent pretty much every evening pounding, cutting, dyeing and packaging away. It is totally exciting but I have some anxiety over it. I doubt this will become my norm but what if it did? I don't have the time to put into my little business that I wish I had. However I am not even sure that I want this to become something that demands so much of my time. I thought I did but now I am rethinking. It's just a strange place to be and I never thought I would have to think about it this soon.

I am signing up for my first craft show called The French Market. It will be taking place at my church in October. I am really excited about it because A- my mom is going to share a table with me and sell some wreaths and things that she makes and B- this should be the most unintimidating craft show that I could have picked for my first one. I will know a lot of the people shopping and probably even some of the sellers too. Even if no one buys anything I think it will be fun and worth my time.

Ahh but it's Thursday and that means the weekend is right around the corner. Hopefully I can catch up on some much needed me time. Probably will involve doing a craft of my choice (I am kind of getting back into embroidery) and watching my netflix movie that has been sitting on the table for days-The Box. Hopefully connecting with a friend or two and getting out in the hot TN weather.

Wednesday

Good morning little pretties!

How is your Wednesday morning going so far? I just finished a bowl of rice chex and figured I would say a little something something on here.

Every morning when I get to my "day" job I take a peek on my Etsy site to see if I have made any sales. It always feels like Christmas when I see the number of sales jump up a number. This morning my friends I had a little Christmas joy because I sold yet another one of my clutches. I think I have sold 5 purses so far and 4 of those were in the past two weeks I think. I had no idea that they would be better sellers. I just like making them because you have a bigger work space to tool a design onto and having a big hunk of leather in your hand just feels delicious to me. So-I guess I should make some more. I can't wait!

On a completely unrelated note-I watched a movie last night called Teresa which I thought was based off of Mother Teresa's life. The movie was not good but I don't know much about her and so I figured I better watch it all the way through. So-it gets to the end and Teresa dies at age 15. It then dawned on me that I am not watching a movie about Mother Teresa but some other chick who I believe Mother Teresa took the name of. Anyways-I feel bad saying it was a waste but it mildly was. Not because of the subject but because it was just a really corny bad acted film.

I also watched a documentary called 180 Degree Turn South the other night. I LOVE documentaries. I enjoyed it. It made me want to travel the world and live in a bus like a hippy,ha ha. It made me want to try surfing too. It's currently on Netflix watch instantly so if you have that you should check it out.

Well-I am off to work the day job and after that I am heading to the leather store to buy more supplies.

I hope you all have a really great day!

Love-Lindsey

Stuff

While others were at picnics, swimming in pools, and watching fireworks over the 4th of July weekend we were doing this at our house. Laying flooring...
Well I feel like I can't really take any credit for putting the flooring down . Christian and his two friends did pretty much all of it. I helped the first day and wasn't much help at all really. They managed to get the above room completely finished and it's the amazing how different it looks. I should have shown a before picture so you can get an idea of the change but just imagine dirty cream colored carpet.

While they were working hard on this I was working hard in my make shift studio on some leather items. I made another Cherry Surprise clutch for a lovely Janet from CO and also made two leather cuffs. One for myself and one for someone else. I will be putting it in the store in a few days.

I also got to see Eclipse over the weekend. I didn't have very high hopes because the last couple of movies were kind of a let down to me but this one was better. The special effects were WAY better and the acting and wigs seemed more real.haha... I can't stand it when wigs don't look real. that is the hairstylist in me I guess.

All in all it's been a nice weekend. I hope you all had a nice long holiday too!
Off to work...

Ring

Selling on Etsy may end up being a bad thing for me because I tend to look at what other people are making and then I want to spend my money on it. And I do...well sometimes...

I came across this store called Sassy Glass Jewelry who makes really beautiful rings and necklaces. I had been looking for a big ring and I love turquoise and I couldn't resist this.
I just got it in the mail today and I love it!

Now that I have a very small view of all the hard work it takes to create something from scratch by hand I really appreciate hand made stuff in an all new way. I see the value in paying a little more for something made by an actual artist or real person and not by some machine or assembly line. I am blown away by some of the things I see on Etsy that other people are making. Really beautiful and unique items you will never find at Target or even Anthropology.

Check out Sassy Glass Jewelry and other shops on Etsy. You won't be sorry.

Puppy

It's been a little while since I last wrote. I thought about writing a thousand times ,but I just never had the chance till now. You see my husband drove to the hardware store about a week ago and right there in the middle of the road was this guy.
We are both animal lovers and so he couldn't just leave him in the middle of the road. He brought him home. It was fun at first. Well-picking ticks off was not fun ,but he is a cute little guy and so having him around was nice. We put out flyers and posted an ad on Craigslist trying to find his owner ,but I am pretty sure someone just dumped him on the road. No one called and so we started trying to find a new owner for him because as you can see in this next picture...
He was a lot to handle! That my dear is my dress he pulled on all day as I walked around the house. Don't even get me started on how he pooped worms in the car-on my lap. It was probably the most traumatic thing I have ever witnessed or been part of. We took him to the vet to get the worm thing under control and ended up finding him a home with one of our co workers. I was so ready to have my house back and my life but when the new owner came with his girls to pick up Choo Choo (that is what I called him) I was really sad.
It's been a few days now and I am just glad we found him a home.
